So today, July 10th 2009 - I will start my Initial Training to be certified as an instructor for Les Mills Body Combat.
This IS one of my LIST items to accomplish sometime in 2009 - so hooray for being able to check off another item there.
I will try in the limited time that I will have to give an overview of the days events.
All I know right now is that I need to check in around 11am or so and that we will start the days events with a Master Class of Body Combat. Other than that - it is a mystery.
So, if you are interested in learning how a typical Body Combat training goes, please feel free to follow along. I am hoping that I won't be TOO sore by Sunday night. I feel fairly well prepared and KNOW in my heart and soul that I can DO this.
*****NEW INFO******
*UPDATE on BC Training* - July 29th
So obviously I ended up with way LESS time than I was hoping for this blog post and I didn't complete my timeline of BC training. Well, I figured I can sum it up in about a sentence or so - it was FREAKIN' HARD!!!
8 t0 9 hrs of working out infused with education portions here and there, barely any time to eat lunch and lots and lots of technique drills. All in all an AMAZING weekend where I met amazing people and pushed myself harder and farther than I have before. I am happy to report that I passed the training module and I am currently attending weekly practices. I will start taking some classes next week to work on my form and my video is due in the middle of October. :)

Mid Year Goal Check-IN... How am I doing??
So, it is JUNE of 2009, and I know that I had a "check in" last month, but I figured since 1/2 the year was over (Damn, already?!) that I would just do a quick check in again with my goals and see where I am!
Here goes nothing....
Health Items
*Get back in shape – be the size that I was (or smaller) when I left Florida in July of 2007*
*I am happy to report that I have been able to wear/fit into most of my smaller sized clothes since late last month and I have no intentions of slowing down! I have a particular goal size/weight in mind and I know if I work extra hard for the next few weeks that I will get there!*
*Certification in RPM or Body Combat, and teaching classes*
*Well, on this I am still awaiting my cert information from Les Mills on RPM, but I do have an update of sorts in regards to certifications. I have decided (I think I am insane!) to take initial training for my certification in Body Combat mid July, so that will be number 3 in LM certs, and it is going to be a tough one, but I feel that I am up for the challenge!*
*4 Days of Cardio a week*
*I have been doing at LEAST 4 days of cardio fairly consistently by going to the gym on lunches at least 2 or 3 times a week and then taking or teaching RPM on Saturdays - I am going to need to boost this up to at least 5 or 6 however to prepare for my Combat training - so that is starting THIS week. *
*Better eating habits*
*I have had better weeks on the eating thing, the last few have been tough with people visiting etc. I am happy to report there is a shopping trip later today to purchase all of the foods needed to be back on the "Clean Diet", so I will be doing that again for at least a couple of weeks and see how it works out.
*Cut down drinking alcohol to one or two times a week*
*I have been doing fairly well on this one, most of my drinking happens only on Saturday nights now, as that is my only real "party" night of the weekend, since I have to teach early on Saturday mornings every week and I am fine with that - its been a nice little release and Saturdays are great to look forward to.*
Education/Travel Items
*Learn Portuguese*
*This one is not DONE, it has just changed slightly... Tim & I have decided that in a few months we are going to take a class together to learn Spanish. Why Spanish? Well, Spanish is a great base language for many others including Portuguese and Italian and it is much more useful even here in the US, so once we enroll in a language school, I will of course update about that*
*Get My Passport*
*I have an appt. this week on Wednesday to submit my Passport Application (who knew you needed an appt?!?), so I am ONE step closer to obtaining it - horray!!*
Colorado Based Things
*Central City & Breckenridge*
*My parents were just here in Colorado for a visit so I was able to go to both of these places. My favorite part of Breckenridge was the brewery!! I hope to go there again sometime in the future too, it was a great town*
Money & Budget Based Things
*Save at least $25 - $50 per pay period*
*I have consistently been saving even more than this - more like $75 - $100 per pay period, which is not easy for me at all as I love to spend as soon as I earn... but I am happy to say that I have an nice little stash now because of it*
*Keep all bills current, or paid early (Stick to budget)*
*Again another tough one for me, however I have been paying all of my bills early and it feels much better knowing that I don't have to worry about this and that being late, etc etc. Who knew?*
*Go through clothing and other personal items once a month and get rid of at least 2 to 3 items that are not being used*
*This one has been fairly easy, especially since I had quite a bit of clothing that was now way too big for me. I have been weeding out items I haven't worn or used in years and it always feels good to just be rid of it. Now I just have to start replacing things as my wardrobe is getting smaller and smaller, however I don't want to spend any money until I am much closer to where I want to be with my body shape and weight!*
Well, that just about sums it up. I might have rehashed some of the things I have accomplished in May, but I sort of needed to remind myself of some of my goals and look at what I have already done in a short amount of time. I am my own worst critic and can be very hard on myself - so this is a nice way to see my progress and give myself that credit that I am due.
Here goes nothing....

May 09 - Goal Check in!
So, here it is May of 2009 - damn, where did the first 4 months go?
Anyhow, wanted to do a check in for my own reasons, but figured I would share it on here too in case anyone out there actually reads this!
My updated goals as of 5/3/09
Goal from January:
* Get back in shape – be the size that I was (or smaller) when I left Florida in July of 2007*
Well, I am proud to report on THIS goal... I had one pair of jeans that I had purchased right before moving to CO that I had only been able to wear ONCE in FL - and have not been able to fit into since then. Well earlier this week (after several attempts over the past few weeks), I decided to try them on again and they actually FIT - I mean, they are still a tiny bit snug, but in a week or so, I hope to be able to actually wear them in public!! :) This does not mean I have reached this goal 100% but I am getting closer every day.. I have about 10 more lbs to go and then the goal will be to maintain from then on out!
*Certification in RPM or Body Combat, and teaching classes*
I am very close on this one - all I have left to get my certification in RPM is my video assesment which I started working on this weekend. I have been teaching 2 RPM classes a week and hope to add at least one more to that in the next month. I should be sending in my video by the end of next week and hope that I pass the video assesment.
4 Days of Cardio a week - I have been teaching at least 2 RPM classes a week and going to the gym at least 3 - 4 times a week to do cycling, so I would say that this goal is accomplished as well. I of course am not ready to slow down on this yet, so I will keep up with it until my additional weight loss goal has been met!
Another goal I am proud to say I have accomplished and am sticking to is this one:
Cut down drinking alcohol to one or two times a week
I am happy to report I pretty much only have a few drinks on Saturday nights now - and that is mostly due to the amout of time I work out during the week and the fact that I have to get out of bed very early aside from Sunday mornings!
Education/Travel Items
Get My Passport - I tried to accomplish this back in March, however it never happened. I am going to get this taken care of by the end of May if it kills me!
Colorado Based Things
Denver Aquarium
- Thanks to my friend Randy's visit - this one is off the list! I do plan on going back again soon, but glad I finally got to see it and experience it.
Garden of the Gods
Again, thanks to Randy's visit, I got to visit GOG again, and it was amazing. I will be back again very soon to enjoy the hike trails and amazing views
Business/Money Things
Save at least $25 - $50 per pay period - I am happy to report that over the past few months I have been able to save over $25 per paycheck - it may not seem like much to most people, but NOT spending money is really hard for me!
There are a few more thngs I am on target with, however I am tired now and will update again later this week!

It's March Do You Know Where Your Goals Are?
So today, I have decided that I am going to check one more of my "list" goals off this week. That goal is to obtain my passport (finally!!). Since they have the new passport cards at a lower cost than the booklets and we have a passport facility very close to our house, I have virtually no excuse NOT to do it asap. They have made it ultra easy to fill out the form online and be able to print it and bring it with you.
Here is the link: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_830.html
The other nice thing about the Post Office location near us is that they also have the ability to take your photo for you while you are there so no need for obtaining passport photos prior to going to the facility. Super easy! I hope to go on Wednesday afternoon, when I have a few hours available to me, otherwise I will have to push it off to next week or even later. I am just hoping the lines are not incredibly long and it doesn't take hours on end. Wish me luck!!
...Coming soon - a NEW list - entitled "Fun Ideas for Randy in Colorado" :)

Goals for 2009 - Update
So, we are in the third month of 2009 and I figured it would be a good time to take a minute and reflect on some of the goals I set at the beginning of the year and see where I am at with them.
I am happy to report that I have already accomplished quite a few more than I figured I would have by this time! (Oh the things you can do if you put your mind to it!)
Anyhow here goes:
*1/2 Accomplished - Ongoing * - Certification in RPM or Body Combat, and teaching classes
- I took initial training for RPM on Feb 21st and PASSED! Now all I need to do is turn in my video in 3 months to get my final approval and certificate to teach. (See my RPM Training Blog here: rpmtraining.blogspot.com)
* Accomplished - Ongoing * -Teach one more BP Class a week
-I am currently teaching 2 classes of Body Pump @ Bladium - one on Wed nights and one on Saturday a.m.
*Accomplished - Ongoing * 4 Days of Cardio a week
- I go to 24 Hr fitness at least 3 days a week for lunch for Cardio and I have been trying to do Cycling class on Saturdays after my BP class every weekend. I now have a bicycle so there will be even more cardio added to my days which is a very good thing!
*Accomplished - Ongoing* - Better eating habits
-I have been on a fairly strict diet eating 6 times a day, items such as chicken, fish and green veggies. I have 2 cheat meals a week and have been a bit leanient on the weekends however I have seen great results. Doing this also has helped me to learn exactly what 5oz of fish or chicken looks like and 1/2 a cup of rice - its actually more than you would think...
* Accomplished - Ongoing* - Continue to work on treating myself better
- I have been seeing a therapist for a bit now and things are wonderful. I have done many things in the past couple of months to really be proud of myself and have actually let myself feel those things. It is great to be able to be myself and not feel guilty about it for one of the first times in my life.
*Accomplished - Ongoing * - Cut down drinking alcohol to one or two times a week
- I actually went for over 3 weeks with absolutely NO alcohol at all, and even though it was tough at times, I feel much better for doing it. I believe that cutting out excessive alcohol consumption has also helped with other goals of getting in shape. I have curtailed my drinking to only on Saturday nights and the occasional light beer one day during the week.
*Accomplished - Ongoing* - Spend less money on frivolous items/ keep all bills current, or paid early (Stick to budget)
- Somewhat forced into this one due to the way the economy is going, however have been much more concious of just going to the store and buying this for $2 and that for $2 as it all adds up. I have been much more on top of my bills as well inspite of having several car problems pop up in the last few weeks that cost way more than I wanted to spend. This is obviously something that needs to just continue and become an easy habit to stick to.
*Accomplished - Ongoing* - Read more books
- This one is an easier one to accomplish since I don't have easy access to TV shows on a daily basis. Reading at night instead of spending endless hours glued to the television set has expanded my mind and brought me to places that TV never could. Since I have been using RTD more frequently - this also gives me extra time to read in the mornings and evenings when I would normally be sitting in traffic in my car frustrated and stressed out.
One author I am absolutlely in love with and can't stop reading recently is Patricia Cornwell and her Scarpetta Novels!
Phew, that is a fairly good list for only being in the first week of March! I am very proud of the things that I have accomplished and will be continuing with over the entire year. However, my S.O. has brought up a valid point... now that I have obtained some of these goals, it is time to add on some new ones. I will contemplate these new goals and hope to post a newer list next week. :)
