We have been discussing lately the fact that we have lived in Colorado for over 3 years and really haven't been able to enjoy the amazing things the state has to offer for attractions, even close by.

A few things on the CO list include the following (and we hope to accomplish at least one or two of these by years' end).

- Ft. Collins Trip
- Hiking a few of the "easy" 14ers
- RE-visiting Copper Mt. Well - it's time to get back to it! CXI and I have a few very important milestones coming up later this year and I feel that it is time to check another couple of things off our ORIGINAL list from waaayyyy back in 2006!

For a refresher, here is the list (although some items have been completed already -and I will try to mark them "done").

THE LIST (In no particular order, as of 11/26/06)
(* Signifies an ongoing list item)
* Indian Food (Done)
MOSI (Half Done- Bodies exhibit)
Ringling Museum
Dali Museum (Done)
Anna Maria Island (Done)
* Tampa Bay Lightning Game (Done)
* Chipotle (Done)
* Thai Food (Done)
*Tokyo Sushi -Largo(Done)
*Tastings Wine Experience -St. Pete (Done)
Busch Gardens
*Ft Laudy (Done) -Special Thanks to R. Carmel for the amazing hospitality!!
Coral Castle
* Sea World (Done)
Universal- Islands of Adventure
Obituary (Dec 9th) (Done)
*Boston, MA (Done)
Ice Skating(Done - in Boston)
Las Vegas
Los Angeles
*Fort De Soto (Done)
Tampa Florida Aquarium (Done)
Bruins game in Boston
Bern’s Steakhouse
*Jacuzzi Suite (Done)
*Denver CO (Done, but this is never-ending!) - OOH - we live here now!
Chicago
Austin TX (Done)
Dallas TX
Montreal
Niagara falls
*White Mountains National Park (Done)
Broadway Show/NYC
*Seattle, WA (DONE as of 2010!!)
Key West Trip
Yellowstone National Park
Italy-Italian Gods of Metal Festival
Spain
French Riviera
Istanbul
Portugal
Egypt
Vienna

There are SOOOO many more things we have added to this, but I wanted to go WAY back to the original.

Now - I want to pick 2 things off of this list that we can do by years end. Any suggestions are welcome. We have to keep budget in mind so I think that any European adventures will have to wait until 2011 - however there are plenty of other things we could accomplish that are on this continent... Other than that - it is a mystery.

So, if you are interested in learning how a typical Body Combat training goes, please feel free to follow along. I am hoping that I won't be TOO sore by Sunday night. I feel fairly well prepared and KNOW in my heart and soul that I can DO this.

*****NEW INFO******

*UPDATE on BC Training* - July 29th
So obviously I ended up with way LESS time than I was hoping for this blog post and I didn't complete my timeline of BC training. Well, I figured I can sum it up in about a sentence or so - it was FREAKIN' HARD!!!
8 t0 9 hrs of working out infused with education portions here and there, barely any time to eat lunch and lots and lots of technique drills. All in all an AMAZING weekend where I met amazing people and pushed myself harder and farther than I have before. I am happy to report that I passed the training module and I am currently attending weekly practices. I will start taking some classes next week to work on my form and my video is due in the middle of October. :)

Mid Year Goal Check-IN... I have decided (I think I am insane!) to take initial training for my certification in Body Combat mid July, so that will be number 3 in LM certs, and it is going to be a tough one, but I feel that I am up for the challenge!*

*4 Days of Cardio a week*

*I have been doing at LEAST 4 days of cardio fairly consistently by going to the gym on lunches at least 2 or 3 times a week and then taking or teaching RPM on Saturdays - I am going to need to boost this up to at least 5 or 6 however to prepare for my Combat training - so that is starting THIS week. *

*Better eating habits*

*I have had better weeks on the eating thing, the last few have been tough with people visiting etc. I am happy to report there is a shopping trip later today to purchase all of the foods needed to be back on the "Clean Diet", so I will be doing that again for at least a couple of weeks and see how it works out.

*Cut down drinking alcohol to one or two times a week*

*I have been doing fairly well on this one, most of my drinking happens only on Saturday nights now, as that is my only real "party" night of the weekend, since I have to teach early on Saturday mornings every week and I am fine with that - its been a nice little release and Saturdays are great to look forward to.*

Education/Travel Items

*Learn Portuguese*

*This one is not DONE, it has just changed slightly... Tim & I have decided that in a few months we are going to take a class together to learn Spanish. Why Spanish? Well, Spanish is a great base language for many others including Portuguese and Italian and it is much more useful even here in the US, so once we enroll in a language school, I will of course update about that*

*Get My Passport*

*I have an appt. this week on Wednesday to submit my Passport Application (who knew you needed an appt?!?), so I am ONE step closer to obtaining it - horray!!*

Colorado Based Things

*Central City & Breckenridge*

*My parents were just here in Colorado for a visit so I was able to go to both of these places. My favorite part of Breckenridge was the brewery!! I hope to go there again sometime in the future too, it was a great town*

Money & Budget Based Things

*Save at least $25 - $50 per pay period*

*I have consistently been saving even more than this - more like $75 - $100 per pay period, which is not easy for me at all as I love to spend as soon as I earn... but I am happy to say that I have an nice little stash now because of it*

*Keep all bills current, or paid early (Stick to budget)*

*Again another tough one for me, however I have been paying all of my bills early and it feels much better knowing that I don't have to worry about this and that being late, etc etc. Who knew?*

*Go through clothing and other personal items once a month and get rid of at least 2 to 3 items that are not being used*

*This one has been fairly easy, especially since I had quite a bit of clothing that was now way too big for me. I have been weeding out items I haven't worn or used in years and it always feels good to just be rid of it. Now I just have to start replacing things as my wardrobe is getting smaller and smaller, however I don't want to spend any money until I am much closer to where I want to be with my body shape and weight!*

Well, that just about sums it up. I might have rehashed some of the things I have accomplished in May, but I sort of needed to remind myself of some of my goals and look at what I have already done in a short amount of time. I am my own worst critic and can be very hard on myself - so this is a nice way to see my progress and give myself that credit that I am due.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://xthelistx.blogspot.com/2009/06/mid-year-goal-check-in-how-am-i-doing.html' title='Mid Year Goal Check-IN... I had one pair of jeans that I had purchased right before moving to CO that I had only been able to wear ONCE in FL - and have not been able to fit into since then. Well earlier this week (after several attempts over the past few weeks), I decided to try them on again and they actually FIT - I mean, they are still a tiny bit snug, but in a week or so, I hope to be able to actually wear them in public!! :) This does not mean I have reached this goal 100% but I am getting closer every day.. I have about 10 more lbs to go and then the goal will be to maintain from then on out!

*Certification in RPM or Body Combat, and teaching classes*

I am very close on this one - all I have left to get my certification in RPM is my video assesment which I started working on this weekend. I have been teaching 2 RPM classes a week and hope to add at least one more to that in the next month. I should be sending in my video by the end of next week and hope that I pass the video assesment.

4 Days of Cardio a week - I have been teaching at least 2 RPM classes a week and going to the gym at least 3 - 4 times a week to do cycling, so I would say that this goal is accomplished as well. I of course am not ready to slow down on this yet, so I will keep up with it until my additional weight loss goal has been met!

Another goal I am proud to say I have accomplished and am sticking to is this one:

Cut down drinking alcohol to one or two times a week
I am happy to report I pretty much only have a few drinks on Saturday nights now - and that is mostly due to the amout of time I work out during the week and the fact that I have to get out of bed very early aside from Sunday mornings!

Education/Travel Items

Get My Passport - I tried to accomplish this back in March, however it never happened. I am going to get this taken care of by the end of May if it kills me!

Colorado Based Things

Denver Aquarium
- Thanks to my friend Randy's visit - this one is off the list! I do plan on going back again soon, but glad I finally got to see it and experience it.

Garden of the Gods

Again, thanks to Randy's visit, I got to visit GOG again, and it was amazing. I will be back again very soon to enjoy the hike trails and amazing views

Business/Money Things

Save at least $25 - $50 per pay period - I am happy to report that over the past few months I have been able to save over $25 per paycheck - it may not seem like much to most people, but NOT spending money is really hard for me!

There are a few more thngs I am on target with, however I am tired now and will update again later this week!

It's March Do You Know Where Your Goals Are?

So today, I have decided that I am going to check one more of my "list" goals off this week. That goal is to obtain my passport (finally!!). Since they have the new passport cards at a lower cost than the booklets and we have a passport facility very close to our house, I have virtually no excuse NOT to do it asap. They have made it ultra easy to fill out the form online and be able to print it and bring it with you.

Here is the link: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_830.html

The other nice thing about the Post Office location near us is that they also have the ability to take your photo for you while you are there so no need for obtaining passport photos prior to going to the facility. Super easy! I hope to go on Wednesday afternoon, when I have a few hours available to me, otherwise I will have to push it off to next week or even later. I am just hoping the lines are not incredibly long and it doesn't take hours on end. Wish me luck!!

...Coming soon - a NEW list - entitled "Fun Ideas for Randy in Colorado" :)

Goals for 2009 - Update

So, we are in the third month of 2009 and I figured it would be a good time to take a minute and reflect on some of the goals I set at the beginning of the year and see where I am at with them.
I am happy to report that I have already accomplished quite a few more than I figured I would have by this time! (Oh the things you can do if you put your mind to it!)

Anyhow here goes:

*1/2 Accomplished - Ongoing * - Certification in RPM or Body Combat, and teaching classes
- I took initial training for RPM on Feb 21st and PASSED! Now all I need to do is turn in my video in 3 months to get my final approval and certificate to teach. (See my RPM Training Blog here: rpmtraining.blogspot.com)

* Accomplished - Ongoing * -Teach one more BP Class a week
-I am currently teaching 2 classes of Body Pump @ Bladium - one on Wed nights and one on Saturday a.m.

*Accomplished - Ongoing * 4 Days of Cardio a week
- I go to 24 Hr fitness at least 3 days a week for lunch for Cardio and I have been trying to do Cycling class on Saturdays after my BP class every weekend. I now have a bicycle so there will be even more cardio added to my days which is a very good thing!

*Accomplished - Ongoing* - Better eating habits
-I have been on a fairly strict diet eating 6 times a day, items such as chicken, fish and green veggies. I have 2 cheat meals a week and have been a bit leanient on the weekends however I have seen great results. Doing this also has helped me to learn exactly what 5oz of fish or chicken looks like and 1/2 a cup of rice - its actually more than you would think...

* Accomplished - Ongoing* - Continue to work on treating myself better
- I have been seeing a therapist for a bit now and things are wonderful. I have done many things in the past couple of months to really be proud of myself and have actually let myself feel those things. It is great to be able to be myself and not feel guilty about it for one of the first times in my life.

*Accomplished - Ongoing * - Cut down drinking alcohol to one or two times a week
- I actually went for over 3 weeks with absolutely NO alcohol at all, and even though it was tough at times, I feel much better for doing it. I believe that cutting out excessive alcohol consumption has also helped with other goals of getting in shape. I have curtailed my drinking to only on Saturday nights and the occasional light beer one day during the week.

*Accomplished - Ongoing* - Spend less money on frivolous items/ keep all bills current, or paid early (Stick to budget)
- Somewhat forced into this one due to the way the economy is going, however have been much more concious of just going to the store and buying this for $2 and that for $2 as it all adds up. I have been much more on top of my bills as well inspite of having several car problems pop up in the last few weeks that cost way more than I wanted to spend. This is obviously something that needs to just continue and become an easy habit to stick to.

*Accomplished - Ongoing* - Read more books
- This one is an easier one to accomplish since I don't have easy access to TV shows on a daily basis. Reading at night instead of spending endless hours glued to the television set has expanded my mind and brought me to places that TV never could. Since I have been using RTD more frequently - this also gives me extra time to read in the mornings and evenings when I would normally be sitting in traffic in my car frustrated and stressed out.
One author I am absolutlely in love with and can't stop reading recently is Patricia Cornwell and her Scarpetta Novels!

Phew, that is a fairly good list for only being in the first week of March! I am very proud of the things that I have accomplished and will be continuing with over the entire year. However, my S.O. has brought up a valid point... now that I have obtained some of these goals, it is time to add on some new ones. I will contemplate these new goals and hope to post a newer list next week. :)

Goals (a list of sorts) for the New Year Ahead

It's a new year - I figured it was a good time to put some things down in writing that I can and want to accomplish during the next 364 days. I think however that we may both be updating more frequently, especially in the "colder" months that are coming sooner than I would like!

Anyhow - the latest note on our adventures is a pinkie swear that sometime in 2009 we will be taking a trek to Canada. That is one of our goals for the upcoming year and we are making it happen - somehow, someway!

Our other longer term goal is to visit Portugal and possibly live abroad for a year.
Sounds crazy eh? I was really bummed out that
the stingray touch/feeding tank was not there or the colorful exotic frogs and a few other things. I suppose I am spoiled by Sea World!

It was fun though, with the exception of the amount of parasites we encountered throughout the day.. as was to be expected since we went on a weekend.

We also got to go to Tastings Wine experience while Melanie and Randy were here and it was awesome!
It's a very cozy yet elegant but still laid back bar of sorts where you purchase a "wine" card and you get to sample from over 120 different wines from automatic wine dispensers throughout the bar.

Here are a few pics of it from their website

This is one of the wine dispensers:
<img style="WIDTH: 320px; However, it’s safe to say that most people don’t really get it. I think that the majority of sub-humans think “Spicy Chinese” when they hear Thai. Wow, it never ceases to amaze me how dumb most people are. The Thai menu is a great combination of tastes: Coconut, Curry, Peanut, Garlic, Basil, the list goes on…

We’ve done Thai a few times now, and I want to briefly touch on all of them.

The first place was in the Clearwater area just off of Gulf to Bay (Dammit, can’t remember the name). It was a tiny little place in a strip mall not too far from The Original Hooters (Yes that is a landmark to me :p). PG suggested we split a spicy Panang, which I’d never had before. I’ll admit that I was skeptical. The recipe called for chicken breast, coconut milk, peanuts, Panang curry paste and an assortment of other strange things. I was still used to ordering the same thing over and over, so change = fear ;) Anyway, it was really frigging good. It was such a bizarre combo of flavors, but meshed together perfectly. PG was telling me that overall it was marginal & that we could have better. I’m def looking forward to it ‘cause if the marginal stuff is that damned good… Need I say more?

The second place we went to was Thai Island in Tampa on the Davis Islands. Thai Island has won several local awards for best restaurant, best Asian food, best Thai, etc. Thai Island is a family operation, with Clay McElmurray and his wife Penn - a native of Sukhothai in Northern Thailand - at the helm. We tried a couple of different things there. Chicken Satay, this crazy basil garlic appetizer that I can’t remember the name of, and a Thai soup that I’d never had before. We shared a spicy chicken dish (I’m pretty sure it was Chicken & Green Curry). It was really good! The place doesn’t look like much, but we had a blast there.

The last place we’ve gone to is in downtown St. Pete. Again I can’t remember the name of it, but it’s right on Central just a stone’s throw away from The State Theater. We were going to see Deicide (RAWK! Actually, PurpleGurl just got done interviewing Glen Benton from Deicide. SCORE!) and decided to stop in this place for a bite. We were both hungry as hell, so we each got a plate. She got the Stir fried Basil Chicken & I the stir fried Garlic Beef. FANTASTIC. In addition to all this, our buddy Jack got a plate of sushi that he was kind enough to share. It was really damned good too. Dammit, there was a really good appetizer that we got as well. They were little rolls with all sorts of cool things in it. We did Sake Bombs at the end of the meal, so my recollection is a little fuzzy.

All this drinking is really screwing up my memory ;)

So, now the plan is to try some good Thai food when we are up in New England. PG is telling me that the Asian food up north is a TOTALLY different experience. I can’t wait to find out!!!

CXI was a grumpy old man - More about The List

Oh yes, I was quite grumpy…

Hello! I am CXI, also known as Constantine XI, then again known as Tim. Welcome to the ongoing story of The List! You've all ready had the pleasure of reading PG's contributions. Sadly, I am very slow, and prone to wander. So updates from me will probably be much rarer. BUT! What I lack in frequency I more than make up for in verbosity. Once I start typing, I can't seem to stop :P

I’ll try and behave today, keep it short and sweet ;)

For me, The List is about living life and sharing amazing new experiences with someone you love. We humans tend to get so lost in the minutia of days (Paying bills, going to work, blah blah) that we kill our selves on the inside. When was the last time that you looked up at a classic work of art and marveled at its beauty? When was the last time that you tasted new food and swam in the pleasure of its flavor and smell? I couldn’t remember what it was like to have the feeling of “new” inside me. Then, I had the extreme fortune of meeting PurpleGurl. She has virtually no fear of the unknown, wants to try everything, and manages to get the most out of life’s experience. At the risk of sounding cliché, she opened my eyes to a whole new world. I want to do the same for her. There is so much to do, so much to share. Thus, The List was born.

So, being grumpy is kind of hard to do anymore :D

I’m so sorry that you will have to endure my litanies of blah… Well, not really ;) I mean, sharing is caring, so they say. So, how about you share $100 to help finance our fun???

ANYWAY - I’m gonna try and talk about all the list items we’ve done together over the next few weeks. My friend Jason was the first person to tell me about it, and I am glad he did.
Of course when I told Tim about this "fast" but somewhat healthy burrito stand, he was all about trying it out.

Our first Chipotle experience together was at the
Chipotle - Parkside Mall location. (details: 3700 Park Blvd. Pinellas Park, FL 727-525-2484 )

One really interesting note about Chipotle is that they have really cool artwork scattered through out the restaurant. Every location has different items. Well the artwork is done by Bruce Gueswel who works with Mayatek. Here is one of my favorites:
Here is a link to his website:
http://www.mayatekinc.com/chipotle/

For more about Chipotle, including locations and menu go to their website:
http://www.chipotle.com

The ORIGINAL "LIST"

You may wonder what "THE LIST" is all about. Well, let me tell you. The list is just exactly what it appears to be... a LIST!!!

No, in all seriousness it all started with one or two small things that "we" decided were things we wanted to do together, for an adventure or whatever reason... well, after a little bit of time would pass and more conversations took place, more and more ideas would come up, and we would always say- well- we need to add them to "THE LIST".. and so here it is.. in it's current state current as of February 2nd, 2006.

The list will always grow and change, so look for updates on it almost daily, or at the least- weekly!

Why share the list? Well, we figured it might be fun to keep an online journal of sorts of our travels and experiences of doing "List" items.. mostly because we are SUPER Dorks!! So, in the coming days, weeks, months years, we will see what this blog will become! Look for pictures and comments and maybe even reviews of "LIST" items as we get to them! (We may have to back-track a bit because we have already done a few of the things..)

Enough chatter- here is the list:

THE LIST (In no particular order, as of 2/2/06)

(* Signifies an ongoing list item)

* Indian Food (Done)
MOSI(Half Done- Bodies exhibit)
Ringling Museum
Dali Museum (Done)
Anna Maria Island
* Tampa Bay Lightning Game (Done)
* Chipotle (Done)
* Thai Food (Done)
*Tokyo Sushi -Largo(Done)
Tastings Wine Experience -St. Pete
Busch Gardens
Ft Laudy
Coral Castle
* Sea World (Done)
Universal- Islands of Adventure
Obituary (Dec 9th) (Done)
Tampa Museum of Art
*Boston, MA (Done)
Ice Skating(Done - in Boston)
Las Vegas
Los Angeles
Fort De Soto (Done)
Cajun Café on the Bayou
Tampa Florida Aquarium
Bruins game in Boston
Bern’s Steakhouse
*Jacuzzi Suite (Done)
Denver CO
Chicago
Austin TX (Done)
Dallas TX
Montreal
Niagara falls
White Mountains State Park
Broadway Show/NYC
Seattle, WA
Key West Trip
Yellowstone National Park
Italy-Italian Gods of Metal Festival (June)
Spain
French Riviera
Istanbul
Portugal
Egypt
Vienna
